Fire, A Deck of Cards and Mushrooms

I had a dream
where I was helping a local group of scientists.
I was not told
what it was they were seeking to find.
I was only given certain tasks to do
and then to report on those tasks.

During one experiment
the work was done outside
in the winter.

They created a platform of sorts
out of the snow,
about the size of a card table,
maybe a little bit longer.

They put several packets
on the platform.
Inside each packet
was a card (from a deck of cards)
and a particular substance.
The card and substance
where then wrapped in foil
and the packets
placed on the platform.

The only substance
that I knew about
was the last one,
which contained mushrooms.
I was told to watch
that particular packet.
If it should catch on fire by itself,
the experiment would be a success
and it would have
world wide implications.

But this was a very special deck of cards.
It looked like ordinary playing cards,
but they seemed to have magical powers.
I was playing solitaire
and found the deck
to have more facecards than usual.
When I tried to show one of the scientists
he flipped through the deck of cards
and found them to be quite normal.

I tried again
and it was full of jacks.
There was something mystical
or magical about this deck of cards
but I was the only one
the cards would change for.

Anyhow,
the cards were used in preparing the packets
and the packets
were placed on the snow platform
with the hopes of
the mushroom packet to self ignite.

If any other packets
were to catch on fire
it would make the experiment
one of the most important finds
in contemporary history.
But the scientist really didn’t hope
for much more than
for the mushrooms to self ignite.

One of the reasons
this experiment was done outside in the winter
was to help contain the fire
with the snow.

The scientists then proceeded
to do something at a distance.
Within moments, the mushrooms self -ignited,
then another packet, and another.
Within seconds
all packets on the platform were on fire.

I was excited and shouting
as were all of the scientists.
I didn’t know what they discovered,
but I knew it was BIG.

I ran inside of a church
that was there,
and my friend was getting ready
to lead the music.
I told her that something amazing had happened
and she got equally excited.

There was recorded music played
as the people gathered for church.
I knew one of the songs
and started singing with the CD.
“. . . we become the miracle
that illuminates the night. . .”

Somehow,
I received some jewelry
for participating with the scientists.
I’m not too sure who, exactly,
gave it to me
or when I was “paid” with it,
but I received
a silver bracelet with jade stones. ..
Another person received the same style bracelet,
only her jade stones
were set in gold.
